Sympatha

Terms of Service

Last updated August 10, 2026.

These terms cover how you can use Sympatha, whether you're browsing as a visitor or listed as a therapist. Using the site means you're agreeing to them. If anything here doesn't make sense, email connect@sympatha.com before you go further.

What Sympatha is

Sympatha is a directory. It helps people learn which styles of therapy might resonate with them, then find therapists who practice those styles. We don't provide therapy, we're not a medical provider, and using Sympatha doesn't create a therapist-client relationship with Sympatha itself. That relationship, if you start one, is between you and the therapist you contact.

Not medical advice, not an emergency service

Nothing on Sympatha, including the quiz and its results, is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a substitute for care from a licensed professional. If you're having a medical emergency, call 911. If you're in crisis, please call or text 988 or contact your local emergency services.

Using the directory

Browsing listings and taking the quiz are free, and you don't need an account. The contact form sends your message directly to a therapist by email; we pass it along and don't take part in the conversation after that.

If you're a therapist: membership

Listing your practice costs $11 a month. Some therapists are on a discounted or free introductory rate during launch.

  • You're responsible for the accuracy of your listing, including your license number, the states you're licensed in, and your credentials. See Licenses and credentials below.
  • You can edit or unpublish your listing from your dashboard any time.
  • If you cancel, your listing stays up for the rest of the period you've already paid for, and comes down when that period ends. Cancelling doesn't delete anything: your account, your profile, and everything you've written stay as they are, so you can start your membership again later and your listing goes back up as it was.
  • If a payment fails, your listing stays up while your bank and Stripe retry the charge. It only comes down once those retries are finished and the membership has actually lapsed.
  • If you're on a free or discounted promotional membership, it continues automatically at the regular $11 a month rate once the stated promotional period ends, charged to the payment method on file, unless you cancel before then.

Membership payments are non-refundable once paid, except where a refund is required by law. You can cancel at any time, your listing stays up through the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again after that.

Licenses and credentials

You're responsible for giving us licensing and credential information that's truthful and current, and for keeping it that way. If you provide false, expired, or misleading credentials, we can remove or suspend your listing and your account.

Sympatha reviews the license information therapists provide, but that review isn't a guarantee. It doesn't confirm that a license is currently valid or in good standing, and it isn't a judgment about anyone's qualifications, competence, or the services they offer. If you're a client choosing a therapist, verify their license with the relevant state board yourself.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • Claim a license or credential you don't hold.
  • Use the contact form to spam, harass, or solicit therapists or other visitors.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish listings in bulk.
  • Try to access another therapist's account or data.

We can remove a listing or restrict access for anyone who breaks these rules.

Limitation of liability

Sympatha is a therapist directory and an informational matching platform, and nothing more. It does not provide therapy, counseling, diagnosis, treatment, medical advice, or any other healthcare service.

Therapists listed on Sympatha are independent professionals. They aren't employees, agents, or representatives of Sympatha. Being listed here, or appearing in someone's matching results, isn't an endorsement, a referral, a recommendation, or a guarantee from Sympatha about that therapist or their services.

Any therapy relationship, and any service provided within it, is solely between the therapist and the client. Sympatha isn't a party to it and isn't responsible for its conduct or its outcome.
